About

Savannahmonitor.org was borne out of a need to compile information in a centralized location that could be referred to easily and quickly. After several years of typing out the same responses to questions on message boards and in emails, it seemed beneficial to create such a repository.

This site is hosted using money from my own pocket, does not seek any profit whatsoever, does not sell or promote any goods, items, or services. This site is not sponsored by any company, and is not looking to endorse any products or achieve notoriety. I simply wish to be helpful to anyone seeking to correct problems they are experiencing in their monitor husbandry.

Many may disagree with the methods discussed in the contents of this site, or may have an experience contrary to what is outlined. There are many who cite caresheets from the 1990s and believe those methods are still applicable today. Time and time again you see people on forums who swear that there is nothing wrong with their husbandry, yet they are on their tenth vet visit from mysterious ailment X that doesn’t seem to be getting any better.

Though difficult, I try to stay out of any controversy. The ultimate goal is a happy, healthy monitor that is alert, active, explores the enclosure, and has a great food response. Whatever way that is achieved is fine by me. If, however, that goal is not being achieved, I believe the information in this site can offer a great service.
